When he came to his senses, he said, “How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! Luke 15:17
As I woke up this morning, I began to think and reflect on the blessings of our Heavenly Father. As I reflected, the parable of the Prodigal Son came to my mind, and you can read about it in Luke 15. This was a young man who came from a home that was literally royal because he had everything that he wanted; there was more than enough food, there were servants at his beck and call, he was living a very comfortable life. But in his comfort, he started taking his father’s leniency and generosity for granted. He thought he was now old and matured enough to take care of himself and live life on his own terms. And so he went to his dad and told him to give him his share of his inheritance, which he did. This was a very huge mistake because the young man was not disciplined enough to begin to handle such huge responsibility. So he went away, but sooner than later, he squandered everything and became a beggar. How awful! He who had so much that he even gave out to people, now was begging to eat pig’s food. He left the presence of the king, so his blessings stopped.
As I think about this, I am reminded that as God’s children, our blessings lie with our Father, the King of kings and Lord of lords. Like the Prodigal Son, we cannot expect to be outside of God’s presence and still receive His blessings. You may say to yourself “Well, there are people in the world who are blessed.” But remember that it is only the blessing of the Lord that maketh rich, and He addeth no sorrow. (Proverbs 10:22) Show me a man or woman who has the fear of God, and I will show you a man or woman who is truly rich and truly blessed.
Today’s message to anyone reading is; stop longing to fill your stomach with with the pods that the pigs eat… (Luke 15:16), when your Father has more than enough for you, your children, and your children’s children. like the Prodigal Son, run back to the King. He is waiting to receive you, He will not turn His back on you or be angry with you. No, rather His angels will throw a huge celebration party in Heaven just for you. And He will open His treasure and His blessings on you.
There’s no need to wait another day “For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you. “Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2)
